I wrote this in March 2008. To my knowledge, with the likely exception of the find-a-friend incentives, neither game has changed.
It seems to have become an accepted truth in the MMO community that you can’t compete with WoW. It has too much money thrown at it. Too much market share. Too much presence. Be happy fighting over the scraps, that’s what they say. But why is WoW successful, really? Because it’s *good*. More importantly, it’s good right from the start, allowing time for the natural compulsive effect of character progression and community responsibility to kick in.
Let’s compare the first few hours of World of Warcraft with City of Heroes and see whether WoW comes out on top simply as a matter of budget, or whether there’s actually some (easily replicable) merit in there somewhere.

My NWN mod, Maugeter, has been released after a seven year long, epic voyage of discovery, frustration, character building and late nights.
The module website has been updated to reflect the changes in the released version.
The module can be downloaded from its Neverwinter Vault page.

Something I’ve seen almost every time I’ve been to the Vault of Archavon is whoever the second tank is parking Archavon’s ass right in the gas cloud so the melee DPS have to choose between standing in front of him proccing parries, or standing in the cloud taking a hit debuff and damage over time.
Here’s a handy visual guide to making sure this doesn’t happen. If you think you can tank Archavon fine, my experience suggests there’s a 90% chance that you actually can’t, so you should probably read this.

1. This is you tanking Archavon, you handsome devil. As you can see, you have him well positioned in the centre of the room where your crack team of feral druids are happily hammering Shred from behind their target.
